Neko is the player's instructor in the original Enigmata. Like his grandson Neko III he gives instructions and introduces bosses. Neko is the only character in the game that has dialogue text. He's also the owner of the Neko Shop and offers players a tutorial and, after Genu has been defeated, the options to start over with the current ship or keep going, the latter making the player face Epic in level 25 if they haven't entered the Boss World before that time.
